Conflux Network & China Telecom Launch First On-Chain Interaction With Blockchain SIM Card
Conflux Network, the first regulatory compliant public blockchain in China, and global communications network China Telecom have unveiled their jointly developed Blockchain SIM (BSIM) card at the Xuhui District West Bank Artificial Intelligence Center in Shanghai. This marks a world first for a mobile user identification card based on blockchain technology.
Appearance & Compatibility
The BSIM card has an appearance nearly identical to traditional SIM cards but boasts storage space 10-20 times larger than traditional SIM cards and computing power several dozen times greater. It is fully compatible with mainstream mobile terminal systems such as Android and iOS.
Security Features
The BSIM card can generate and store users’ public and private keys within the card itself to reduce risk of malware or virus software attacks targeting user’s mobile terminals. Other security features include encrypted storage, key recovery functions, U-shield functions, etc.
Demonstration During Launch Event
At the launch event, Dr Wu Ming from Conflux successfully demonstrated transferring a Commemorative NFT of the China Telecom & Conflux Partnership from Shanghai Conflux Research Institute’s BSIM account to China Telecom’s BSIM account – marking the first ever on-chain use of a BSIM Card by general public users.
Conclusion
Dr Wu Ming stated: “From now on, all mobile communication users can obtain a more secure digital identity through mobile terminals and access Web3 and the metaverse with minimal technical barriers.“ Leveraging hardware security advantages provided by this unique tool offers users maximum protection when accessing web3 applications without any technical barriers or complexity encountered when using other tools available today.
